This example only works flawlessly in Gecko engine browsers. Internet Explorer behaves oddly, particularly the buggy rendering engine of IE 6. Increasing the negative offsets, particularly the first one may get better -- if not perfect -- results.
There are no images being used here at all, and the text box is completely dynamic and can shrink and grow depending on the content of the text box.
